What does drinking water have to do with weight loss?

Our body's are made up of 70% water! We use water to flush out toxins, fats and anything our body cannot use. You need water for proper functioning of your brain, heart, kidneys, liver, your entire digestive track and even your smallest cell.

So why is drinking water important to losing weight? The answer is very simple. Many times we get mixed signals from our body. It tells our brain it needs water, our brain gets some signals crossed and tells our stomach it's hungry. So instead of drinking water we eat. The food we eat absorbs water and we eat more. So there is a very direct connection between drinking water and weight loss.

A can of soda, glass of milk or juice all need to be processed like food, but water does not. Your body can absorb it directly, but you also need a lot of water, not soda or juice, to process food properly.

So, if you drink enough fresh water, your body can process foods properly, you'll be less likely to be hungry all the time and you are more likely to feel better, which means you're more likely to eat much less.

The amount of water should you drink each day is determined by how much you weigh.

The number of ounces you need to drink per day is equal to half your weight in pounds. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds then you need to drink 100 ounces of water. If your water glass holds 8 ounces, then you need to drink about 12 glasses of water a day. That's about one glass of water an hour.

As you lose weight your water requirements will be less.

Drinking water is a great start to any weight loss program. So remember no matter what diet you choose to go on, drink at least the minimum amount of water and it will become easier and faster to get to your weight loss goal.
